Grand Rapids
We took this past weekend and went and visited friends in Grand Rapids. It's the same bunch that we spent time with in Chicago in October, and it was once again a great weekend. We're tired, but it was worth it! After staying up until 1 playing games on Friday, we got up on Saturday morning for a fun trip. Lisa, knowing that 9 kids would drive each other nuts if kept around the house all day, had arranged a field trip to a local fire station--super fun! Fireman Dan started the presentation with a video about fire safety, and then demonstrating the gear that he has to wear in a fire. The kids were fascinated (except the little ones, who were a little scared):
Here they are, demonstrating their "stop, drop, and roll" skills:
After that, Fireman Brian showed us around the trucks.
He even let the kids climb up in the driver's seat and try out the lights (he wouldn't let them try the sirens!).
Definitely a fun outing! I will have to keep that idea in mind!
After another late night playing games and talking (3 AM this time!), we all got up on Sunday morning and went to church to worship together. There is something about worshiping with good friends that is just wonderful. It kind of took me back to college days of going to church together (except now there are a lot more kids to corral in the pews!). Here are the group pictures before church, everybody dressed in their Sunday best:
I don't have a picture of all the adults yet--sorry Lisa and Emily! I need to photoshop me into the picture, and who knows how long that will take me :) But here is one that Emily took of us and the Simpsons--it turned out great! Thank you, Emily! I wish we'd done the same for you!
For a few more cute baby pics, go check out Emily's post, here.
All right, enough time spent on the computer--off to tackle math and handwriting!

Rose Goes Green
Quite literally, in this case!
After a presentation at BloomingMoms on cloth diapering, I was inspired to give it a go. For me, the draw is money saved every month. While it's a little hard to gauge how much it costs me to launder each diaper, by my calculations, we could save up to $80 a month, after the initial diaper investment, which would take about 6 months to make up. So I poked around on the internet a little, and decided that FuzziBunz are the brand I like. Fortunately, a friend of mine uses this exact same brand, and generously offered to let me borrow some of her stash for a few weeks to see how I like them. So, we started with excitement this morning! Here's Rose, in her "green" diaper:
Isn't she cute?
In other news, she is dangerously close to crawling, which I am decidedly not ready for:
She has also had several exciting developments this week. We moved her out of our room into the girls' room, and she's doing very well in there. In fact, she has slept through the night the past two nights!! Yay!!
